Why Are We Special
GFS was born of the desire of one man – Geoff Hatton – to find a solution to a problem. Over many years working in the hovercraft industry he felt a frustration at not being able to get hovercraft to go over instead of around an obstacle. He considered all the possible options and concluded that if he forced enough air over a curved surface, the pressure differences between the upper and underside surfaces would lift the craft up into the air. He researched the possibilities and did simple tests in his own home (link to history page).
With this germ of an idea Geoff created GFS to fulfil this ambition, knowing that he would need a team of people around him, who shared his ambition and brought their own set of skills to the table.
GFS is special because it embodies the ambitions of one man who was able to see beyond the known uses of aerodynamic phenomena. So special that experts in aerodynamics have travelled from all corners of the world to see what GFS has achieved.
The GFS craft is incredibly stable, controllable and safe. Having no exposed rotating parts means that it can fly close to buildings, through doorways and windows. It can take off from and land on all manner of surfaces – sloping or flat. It is less expensive to build than other VTOL UAVs. All together, that’s very special.
